Day 2 Review

Pretty disappointing, but we still made progress. Let me know if you can see the map in the "our story so far" post. I have been having problems with it.

Today's Stats:

What we're listening to:

As I posted earlier, our iPod was down today. Actually the adapter that broadcasts the iPod to our radio wouldn't work because the cigarette lighter isn't working. So we listened to some NPR and local rock stations. Meghan put in an Alicia Keys CD while I napped.

Weather:

Terrible. Beyond bad. The temperature was below freezing most of the time. Although there were a few stretches that were clear of snow, most of the time snow/rain were coming down pretty hard. The worst part was the wind which made driving difficult and created a whiteout effect in Texas. 

Reflections on the day:

We didn't really get to see anything and we only got half our driving in. The accident we saw was pretty gruesome. I think there were about 20 vehicles involved. 

Texas so far hasn't impressed. A lot of the people are huge down here. I mean seriously obese. Now, I may have a few extra pounds but these people are massive. Also they wear cowboy hats.

There is a channel on T.V. that just shows people with warrants. Think missing children ads, but for wanted criminals. The restaurant Meghan and I ate at served loaded baked potato soup. It was basically a big bowl of mashed potatoes with bacon and cheese. It was delicious, but it makes the obese thing a little clearer. My dinner came in a trough. Literally.

We are staying at a Best Western and it's not too bad. There was snow in the bathroom and we're not sure how it got there...
